Building Stasis

                     by Vernon Frazer

a rotary tiding
extravaganza follows the known
clef search

left to center measures on its own

the rudder bellows
break sail to bonanza shelters
veiled to umber

shading the coastal treaty cast

its longitude
memoirs fake due habitation
to plural respite

deriding boaters cleft from treble to bass

a lumbering load
eradicated gunwales whisper
tempering latitude

to the vestal crescendo idling

Minions and Onions

by Dan Ryan

Minions and Onions…January 2013

We…
Me and my girl Mary…the Muffin Queen herself
blastin westward on I-70 across the crazy American Heartland of our dreams
far gone into conclusion we’d reach Old Santa Fe tomorrow
auricularly grooving on Reverend Raunch and the Dope Smokin Alter Boys
current devas of the Bible Beltway…

They…
the minions of the mid west... from the prairie of the Great Plains…
veins flowing with the dust of that sacred and holy geography…
(Mary’s geography, actually, herself bein of the prairie)
“ Let us meet amongst the minions on the field of onions “  I suggest
“ How delicious! “ says she…” Minions and onions…I’ll make soup “
the minions being salt of the earth, poisoning the soil
(and onions)
of the mid - American continent…Ohio to Kansas
OH, HOLY KANSAS…
from which Dorothy and Toto are on permanent vacation from…
where mad Americans drunk on the fear of living
beg the great questions of death…
”If you die today where will you spend ETERNITY?”
(when you die you’re just dead…that’s it)
reptilian visionaries…what a weary bunch…
willingly waiting in line for misery at the fundamentally evangelical
Church of the Rude Awakening
(.House of the Un-risen Son to unbelieving unbelievers like me)
congregated by a woebegone pitiful congregation
heads bent in worship of the existently non-existent
talking in low, whining voices
repeating over and over again “ yes…yes…yes. “
and so forth…
(I sensed the madness it put in them)
with expectant expectation for a Kansas resurrection crucifiction
(it was such fun the first time, why not again – a jucy crucy?)
violence bein a Christian - American tradition…
mad crazy Americans are addicted to it…
speakintongues holyrollin Christian soldiers
mouthfrothin ready to kill for Christ, mom and her apple pies
no thought given to indecisive indecision
mindfully gripping an ephemeral sense of a real unreality
it’s what happens when you start losing your mind…
individually and collectively

We (again)…
Me and my girl Mary…the Muffin Queen herself
in a furious flurry of agreed upon decisions
whereby deciding Holy Kansas to be Creep City
roar off at maximum boplicity across the remaining portions of
the Sunflower State
(leavin slack-jawed gaping faces in our absence)
out-pulling the gravity of fear inherent in the inheritance of the
generally mad to be saved populous
onward and outward bein my motivational motto
out, out and away from that holysacredcow con game
no desire to travel that heavengoing highway to hell with
a busload of wingnuts
I apparently suffering no unwillingness to sit
in soundly closed-minded judgement - without guilt or reservation…
the Muffin Queen keeping mum on the subject as we roll on into Colorado

Strata Casting

by Vernon Frazer

pistol dowry turns below a cappella
to transport their surplus radial tint
no cleaver left to ply the massage
from portage to latitudes recumbent
where numbers shred their stamp
or grasp the terminal rotary turnstile
trafficking deadly fashion statements
worn in need of long dress platitudes
streaking rummage no gown can apply
leverage statements leaking privilege
through the limbic renaissance creation
breeding origins silicon detectors
worn enchilada sweepstakes in need
hinting deportation flowing empty
nectar button transits loudly deplore
the dead nostalgia vessel portraits
looming overture filigree varnished
left pastures incumbent on gratitude tests
the serpentine lattice living fumigation
where seekers cornering flumes report
acrylic dandruff meatloaf genders
surrogate replays to adipose impeding
circuits chronic with lapels promulgate
destiny vacations umbrellas unbowed
or clipped at the vintage repertory
withering panetella creases germinate
rebuttal fumes animate creed whistles
consolidating late bandana cameos
when omelets fail their passage spread
at odds with favorable grimace carts
baring their plentiful shiver plates
withering doldrum padlocks wary
of dead legends pining to hawser
agrarian nectar fish removers
detail inflected rubble clarions fail
to halt the raging aquarium rebellion
crossed headers breeding filters
that bray under blistered moonlight
barrage rumbling underfed pledges
fraternizing legends devise hazing
blood play to measure boot floods
overrunning banks with telling notes
alarming loose variables running on
treadmill fumes fascinated lumens
left on time a pointed departure
burrowed trail footage on the wait
an easy filter toward displeasure
elemental as crystalline rhetoric
sampled a shuffled turntable mix
breeding amps for nostalgia feeders
a deluxe climb to radio margin
decibel foot-longs pasted to meter
thong filters during protrusion mode
daring placental decadence movers
to mottle slow ambitions rotting
along the passage elemental fury
animates the glove latch hovering
overtones that ring pierced ears
to gobbling gastronomical smirches
before flagpole settees disburse
their mileage statement transfer
to wobbling institutional facets
maundering at the marginal
teflon leaking in brand name
only sharper multitudes packing
conundrum filters to still life
wherever breathing settles lower
disclaimers compelling rudder tacks
whose crematorium genetics crate
the hard-worn mirror defection
a loyalty straddled from neither side
nor the circle of protective ambiance
delta cradled or not as ladles fly
voluminous bodily snatchers boldly
deface categorical directive vacuole
transfers correcting situational detritus
that tends toward eclipsing the molar
eviscerated under cartilage steps
or traced beyond flagpole strata
pioneers of the cellular vacuum
divert an evening runway goddess
strapping gown fled cleavage toasts
the sun-bred follicle volley mutations
ventilate a sutured passion length
no retrospective claim to divert them
from the wary gloss of lost perspective
embracing wonders costing the cast
a halitosis invasion squad to bargain
mind breaths to shorten surveillance
their tenure slowly shattered wind
that flurries tentacle fusillade glands
where landing crates prove a vain
hold where no choker has grown bold
before mouthwash turned reciprocal
flaring nostril starters at a coastal retreat
umbrella shakers turned contrary
motion denied access to hearing
victuals on the rampage surged last
place in the legion duffle bag amour
soufflé left untacked at the station
respecting the fuselage flash its panache
gum spreaders alike seek recalcitrance
as nadirs bellow foghorn throttles
marking shelves beyond the strata
clenched behind their breathing
