Persistent by Jefferson Hansen

 a delusion is a belief
persistently held that
what is not, is so

at the edge of home
delusions arise
cool & crisp
wind in the eaves

at the edge of nerve
delusions arise
synapses reaching
in flesh & brain

at the edge of cool orgasm
delusions arise
holding up
holding out

the home held together
by mortar & brick
by what we
choose to misbelieve

nerves calloused
by delusion
no light caress
can touch the center

normative delusions
break down & erode
by wind
& rain

no heat just tepid
water in the body
wishing delusion
could make us sane

we are told
delusions to make us
alive in this home
at this time

a deep assortment
inside of old
invention

synapses need their comfort
